As A Group

We encourage you to get your group involved with Metro Camden Habitat for Humanity.  We ask that you first learn how to get involved based on the nature of your group.

As a Corporate Group

Are you looking for a way to enhance your corporate image and build team spirit while helping the community?  Sponsoring a Team Habitat Day is a great way to build a house and build pride and teamwork within your corporation at the same time.   We ask that corporations sponsor the day for $2,500.  This contribution gives your corporation the opportunity to have 15 volunteers on-site working to build a house; we mention your corporation in our newsletter, Habitat Happenings, which is sent to 7000 households and businesses within and around Camden County; as well as your corporation is included in our Annual Report.

As a House of Worship

Faith In ActionLooking for an opportunity for members of your congregation who are interested in serving the poor in your community?  Then participate in a Faith In Action (FIA) day where you will learn about Habitat for Humanity, see the great work that has been accomplished and participate in the building process.  All are welcome to learn about Habitat and take the tour, while space is limited for the actual construction participation.

Building houses requires a lot of funding up front.  In order to continue to build houses for more families in need, we ask that you help raise funds to support the group you are sending us for a Faith In Action day.  You might have the youth group hold a carwash, or the men’s group might put on a spaghetti dinner or the women’s group might hold an alternative gift market during the holidays.  You could take up a special collection in support of the work your missions team will be doing in the community.  While we do not have a specified amount that we require, we ask that you make your best effort to support this ministry.

In addition to volunteerism and fundraising, the third component of Habitat for Humanity is advocacy.  We hope that you will serve as ambassadors for Metro Camden Habitat for Humanity within your congregation and your community to raise awareness that there are local families living in terrible conditions and to help make simple, decent housing for all a matter of conscience.  Together, we can make the case that it is politically and morally unacceptable that any of our brothers and sisters should have to live in substandard housing.    View our Faith In Action Brochure

As another type of Group

Are you part of an organization (non-corporate or religious affiliation), such as The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Outdoor Club, The Preservation Alliance, a group of friends/family etc. who are interested in working together on the construction site?  Then participate in a workday with MCHH day where you will learn about Habitat for Humanity, see the great work that has been accomplished and participate in the building process.  All are welcome to learn about Habitat and take the tour, while space is limited for the actual construction participation.

Building houses requires a lot of funding up front.  In order to continue to build houses for more families in need, we ask that you help raise funds to support the group you are sending us for a workday.  You might hold a carwash or a spaghetti dinner on MCHH’s behalf.  You can also “Spare Change for Change” by having members skip that Starbucks coffee a few times in the week, or watch a movie on TV instead of spending $20 at the theater, or have dinner at home instead of going out to a restaurant, and then donate the “change they spared”.  While we do not have a specified amount that we require, we ask that you make your best effort to support this ministry.

In addition to volunteerism and fundraising, the third component of Habitat for Humanity is advocacy.  We hope that you will serve as ambassadors for Metro Camden Habitat for Humanity within your organization and your community to raise awareness that there are local families living in terrible conditions and to help make simple, decent housing for all a matter of conscience.  Together, we can make the case that it is politically and morally unacceptable that any of neighbors should have to live in substandard housing.
